The gas limit increase in EIP-9698, so how this will massively boost Ethereum's transaction speed over four years, How would Ethereum's ability to support a large number of users change in comparison to quicker blockchains like Solana?

EIP-9698 expands Ethereum's capacity by 100 times, with a target of 2,000 transactions per second. This will greatly improve base-layer user support and reduce transaction costs. Ethereum's performance won't, however, be able to match Solana's theoretical top of over 65,000 TPS despite this improvement.

If Ethereum's EIP-9698 upgrade can't hit Solana's impressive 65,000 transactions per second, can it still hold onto its top spot? Or will quicker blockchains gradually chip away at its market share and lose developers' interest?
