I'm tempted by high online APYs, but is the extra interest worth the potential loss of flexibility? How do I balance higher rates against withdrawal limits and the risk of terms changing suddenly?

@Mark said in Is she missing out on better banking options?:

It's important to think about this, particularly given the current banking environment in the U.S. Many large online banks now offer better interest rates on savings, faster ACH transfers, and more reliable apps than smaller credit unions. It's important to determine what factors she values most, like low fees, personal help, or easy online services. By evaluating interest rates, focus on transfer speeds, customer service, and account security for a clear and manageable decision.

I’m tempted by these online banks with their high rates and slick apps, but I still value the personal touch of my credit union. How do I choose between digital convenience and a bank that actually knows my name?

I’ve noticed that more U.S. banks and agencies are flagging my VoIP number, and it’s making me nervous. Should I move my accounts to a physical U.S. SIM or use authenticator apps now to avoid a sudden lockout? I’d rather deal with the setup today than lose access to my money when I’m stuck abroad and desperate.

@Mark Yes, you are correct. I just realized I applied for the wrong Chase card. I plan to first examine my approval email along with the terms of the bonus. However, can I simply contact Chase to make the switch? I'm looking for a solution before this is finalized, as a no-fee Freedom card could be a better long-term option than a high-fee card.

If you’re worried about adventure coverage, focus on the specific benefits rather than just the brand names.

Seven Corners allows for the customization of medical limits up to $1 million. Specific riders are available for activities like diving or parachuting. IMG provides good worldwide coverage with flexible limits. However, their exclusions may be complicated.

My advice: Read the fine print on sports and claim timelines for both before you decide what’s best for your trip.

@David said in Is my new U.S. Bank login linked to an old account?:

I keep getting an error when setting up my new U.S. Bank login. Does this mean the system is still linked to my old, locked account details? Did anyone else encounter this issue, and did customer support actually resolve it, or did they just keep transferring you around?

It sounds like U.S. Bank’s system is still flagging your information from that old, locked account, which is likely why it won’t let you set up a new login. To fix this, try clearing your browser cache or switching devices. Also, make sure you're entering your details exactly as they appear on your new paperwork. Since standard support representatives often get stuck in a loop, politely ask for a tech specialist to clear your old profile for a proper fix.

@Avery It’s very common for U.S. Bank Focus cards to get locked after a flurry of small transactions. Most people find themselves stuck in a "24-hour waiting room," with customer service insisting there’s no way to speed it up.

Since these are prepaid payroll cards, the system is simply being extra cautious about fraud. Unfortunately, there aren't many secret workarounds — usually, you just have to wait it out or use a backup card for anything urgent until the lock clears.

@Camerone It's a good idea to really check out your pension right now — make sure you know where you stand with your vesting and what the new payouts look like. You might try using a retirement calculator to see if there are any income gaps that you need to worry about. If you find any, consider increasing your IRA or 401(k) contributions to help fill those gaps.

It's beneficial to diversify your investments by including low-cost index funds and maintaining an emergency fund. Create a personalized plan that suits your long-term goals and makes you feel comfortable.

For C-corps looking for high-yield business savings beyond Wealthfront or Live Oak, Axos Bank (4.01% APY), Prime Alliance Bank (up to 4.00%), and First Internet Bank (up to 4.42%) are excellent online options. They generally provide competitive rates with minimal or no fees.

It will only take 10 to 15 minutes to open your account. The bank will take a few days to fully verify your documents before giving you full access to your account.

One more thing: the waiting period will also depend on the type of account you are opening.

At least for a minimum of 6 months, you keep your account open; for some banks, this time and terms may vary.

Refer to the terms and conditions here: https://www.capitalone.com/digital/corporate-terms/ or have a word with the customer service center to exactly know the early account closure policy.

Eastern Bank has excellent customer service. There are some factors that you need to consider while opening an account, like online banking service, mobile banking features, ATM accessibility and fees associated with different account types. It's better to visit the local branch of Eastern Bank to get the real-life experience.

There is no need to keep the money in your bank account as JP Morgan offers low interest rates on regular savings accounts. You can invest this money in ETFs or high-yield savings accounts.

American Express National bank is a well-reputed bank for high-yield savings accounts, as it offers attractive interest rates with no monthly fees. The customer service of this bank is very good.
You need to focus on some factors like APY, account fees, withdrawal restrictions and online banking features while applying for HYSA. There are other banks like Ally Bank, Discover Bank , Marcus by Goldman Sachs famous for their user-friendly systems and excellent interest rates.

Both banks are major banks in the US, which offers a wide range of banking services.
Chase bank is known for its easy-to-use mobile apps, digital banking services, large-scale ATM networks, and good reward system.

Wells Fargo is famous for their extensive branch network, wide range of financial products, and excellent customer service.

You can choose Chase Bank if digital experience is your priority. However, Wells Bank offers excellent in-branch support. The bank you will choose will depend on your priorities and needs.

Try logging in from a different browser or clearing your browser's cache; this issue might be due to a technical glitch. If you are still unable to log in, reach out to your bank for assistance or visit them in person. They will reset your login credentials, and you can access your account again.
