If so many U.S. banks now offer higher-yield savings, smooth ACH transfers, and better digital features, shouldn’t I consider whether my partner’s mom should switch from her limited credit union to a more reliable mainstream bank?

@TomOnChain It's important to think about this, particularly given the current banking environment in the U.S. Many large online banks now offer better interest rates on savings, faster ACH transfers, and more reliable apps than smaller credit unions. It's important to determine what factors she values most, like low fees, personal help, or easy online services. By evaluating interest rates, focus on transfer speeds, customer service, and account security for a clear and manageable decision.

Online banks definitely have better rates and technology, but is that worth giving up the personal touch and local support that you get at a credit union? How do you decide which one actually wins out?

I’m tempted by these online banks with their high rates and slick apps, but I still value the personal touch of my credit union. How do I choose between digital convenience and a bank that actually knows my name?
